Enrichment Programs

  • In weekly PE class, our students will be taught the skills and knowledge needed to live physically active lives, while establishing an appreciation and confidence to be more healthy. Our goal is to help your child move from dependence to independence by taking responsibility of their own health and fitness through promotion of regular, enjoyable physical activity.

  • Students come to our technology lab each week to develop their computational thinking and engineering skills through a variety of hands-on experiences both on and off the computer. Throughout the year we will learn how to be responsible and respectful digital citizens, develop our perseverance as we tackle different types of engineering problems, and broaden our understanding of technology’s function beyond entertainment.

  • All students visit the school library regularly, exploring a wide variety of books.  Students will have the opportunity to check out books to bring home and enjoy as they grow into life-long readers.Item description

  • All students have weekly time in our science lab, with sessions encompassing both science content and hands-on skills.  They also will work on the habits of mind essential to scientific thinking – all delivered in a fun, engaging atmosphere.

  • All students come to our beautiful Art Studio each week to develop their skills using a variety of media including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking and more. They will learn about the Elements of Art (line, shape, form, space, color, value and texture) and incorporate these concepts into works of art depicting a range of themes and subjects.  Students will exercise their imagination while developing their own personal artistic style and voice. Work in the Art Studio also encourages students to sharpen their observational skills and gain an appreciation for the world of art around them.

  • All students have weekly periods in the music room, building a solid musical foundation throughout their time at PS19 EVCS.  In 3-k through kindergarten, students dance, learn songs, read and compose rhythmic notation (really!), explore many instruments, and learn to work with one another positively. First and second grade builds upon that foundation, memorize and perform solfege syllables and more advanced rhythms, and experience music from around the world with the Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers program, which includes a concert experience at Carnegie Hall twice a year for our second graders. Third through fifth grade dive deeper into instrumental playing with ukulele, xylophones, and percussion, applying the skills they’ve developed in earlier grades.
