Learning in First Grade

In first grade, students learn about birds and human-made tools.  They deepen their understanding of place-value to add and subtract numbers fluently and in context, and write books about themselves, others, and information they’ve learned.  It’s an exciting year to watch them blossom as readers and study living things around them in science.
